The EGA Guinea Bauxite Project Has Completed 50 Percent

2018-07-11

The United Arab Emirates Aluminum Company (EGA) is in guinea for a $1.4 billion bauxite project, and announced that they had completed 50 percent. EGA is currently developing bauxite and related export facilities in the Republic of Guinea of east Africa.

The company’s guinea alumina project is expected to export its first batch of bauxite in the second half of 2019. Once the mine is put into production, it will produce about 12 million tons of bauxite per year.

GAC is one of the Guinea’s largest Greenfield investments over the past 40 years and will be the worldwide new bauxite supplier. Guinea has about 7 million tons of bauxite resources, accounting for more than a quarter of the worldwide total.
EGA said their bauxite will be shipped to the Kamsar port using other companies’ existing rail lines. GAC has been building railroad loops and hubs to connect its mines and loading facilities to existing rail lines.

EGA also developed the first alumina refinery in the UAE in Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi. Once the factory is put into production, it can meet 40 percent alumina demand. The project is expected to export its first batch of bauxite in the first half of 2019.
